Falco FAQs

Falco Investment Platform is a trading name of Falco Private Wealth Ltd which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (802016). Falco Private Wealth Ltd is owned wholly by Falco Group Ltd, which also owns Falco Capital Ltd, a UK-based asset manager.

The online alternative investment market is currently dominated by a handful of P2P lending platforms which are largely catered towards retail investors and a high volume of clients. The Falco Investment Platform is only suitable for High Net-Worth and Sophisticated Investors, offering access to a wide range of alternative investment strategies.

Falco Investment Platform, a trading name of Falco Private Wealth Ltd, is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 802016). It is important to bear in mind that specific investment opportunities may be unregulated, and you could lose up to 100% of your capital. The investments promoted on the Platform themselves may not be regulated.

Our fees will be clearly laid out for each investment on the investment summary page, both from an investor perspective and also any provider fees that we may receive. We will not charge any further hidden costs.

The Falco Investment Platform is a self-select investment platform where you can choose the products you wish to invest in. Falco Investment Platform will not provide you with financial advice and it will be your responsibility to choose investments and build an investment portfolio that reflects your investment goals.

We can only accept investors who meet at least one of the three following classifications: High Net-Worth Individuals, Sophisticated Investors and Professional Investors. If you are a Professional Investor, we will need to verify this outside of the Platform, so please contact us directly if this is the case.

There are no fees payable upon signing up. We will always be clear and transparent with our clients, and a full fee breakdown is given for each investment opportunity so that you can see exactly where fees are charged on each project.

If you are interested in a new investment opportunity, you will have the ability to pledge an amount that you would like to invest. Once a project is 100% pledged, it will be closed to new pledges. Investments are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Falco will always strive to ensure risk is mitigated, but it is important to be aware that the investments on the Platform should be considered high risk, and you should have the capacity to lose 100% of your capital. Returns on individual projects are not guaranteed, and are speculative investments.

When a project has been fully pledged, we will notify investors with details of where investment funds need to be sent to, as well as the deadline for doing this. Funds will be sent either directly to the investment vehicle or to our solicitor’s account, so at no point will Falco Investment Platform be holding client funds.

Yes, you can increase, decrease or cancel your investment amount while the project is still in the pledge phase. Once your investment is live, you have sent funds and signed the appropriate documentation, you will not be able to access your investment until the project is completed. There is no cancellation period once the investment is live.

Falco conducts reasonable due diligence on each project. This is conducted by the full team at Falco and includes deal analysis, financial modelling, background checks, area searches and many other factors. Each opportunity also requires approval from our experienced Investment Committee members who carry out their own checks of each project.

Every project on the Falco Investment Platform will have different parameters and timescales which are specific to the opportunity. You should ensure that the timescales of each investment are suited to your circumstances and that you are willing to hold the investment for its full life and potentially longer, as timescales can be subject to change depending on the performance of the underlying investment.

We will offer regular updates on each investment as the projects progress. You will be issued notifications when there has been an update on an investment, and will also be able to read all the latest updates on each investment's page within the Falco Investment Platform. If you would like to speak to someone about a specific project, please message us directly.

You will be notified by email and via the Falco Investment Platform when there is new documentation available. This can then be downloaded directly from the Platform within your account page, or on each specific investment page.

Call us on 0203 535 0100 or email info@falcoprivatewealth.co.uk to make a complaint. You also have the right to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

We intend to have this functionality on the Platform in the near future.

Falco has a duty to confirm the identity of all investors on the Platform, and these checks form part of that process.

You will be able to view all available investments on the 'explore' page. From here, you can view specific investment information and make a decision as to whether or not you would like to invest, and can pledge an appropriate investment amount. Investments on the Platform are self-select and no advice is given by the Falco Investment Platform.

For equity-based investments, you will have shares in a holding company which will undertake the investment opportunity, and potentially also a shareholder loan. For debt-based investments, you will be entering into a loan agreement with the underlying vehicle in the form of loan notes, with no equity.

There is no limit on the number of projects you can pledge towards.

Due to our reasonable Due Diligence process, there may be periods of time when there are no live projects for new investments, although we will strive to ensure this happens as rarely as possible. If this is the case, please feel free to familiarise yourself with the current status of previous projects which can be found on the 'explore' page.

The minimum investment will vary by each specific project and will be based on the size of the overall fund raise.

The investment term will vary by each specific project. This could be anywhere between six months and several years. Investment terms can also be subject to change as projects progress and conditions alter.

There is currently no secondary market available, although this is something we are currently working on and hope to launch in the near future. Therefore, it is important that investors understand that access to funds is limited.

This will vary depending on the investment itself. The interest may be rolled up and distributed at the end of the investment term, or alternatively may be paid out at regular intervals.

Interest earned will be subject to income tax at your marginal rate. Profits from equity-based investments will also be taxable in the form of a capital gain. Both of these will need to be declared on your tax return. You should consult your accountant and/or tax specialist for further details.

No income tax is deducted at source and, as such, investors will need to declare this on their tax returns.

There is no limit on the amount of interest that can be earned.

When a project has been fully pledged, we will notify investors with details of where investment funds need to be sent to, as well as the deadline for doing so.

This will be acceptable, however please note that we may need to carry out KYC checks on both of the joint account holders. We will be in contact if this is the case.

Funds will be returned to your designated bank account, which will be the account you nominated when setting up your Falco account. Should this account change, please contact us as soon as possible.

Falco conducts reasonable due diligence on each individual project in order to ensure these meet our high standards. For each project, we will produce our own financial models to ensure their viability, and will also conduct checks on any involved third parties and their historic projects.

There are a wide range of reasons why a project could go into default and these are detailed in our risk document. If this is the case, investors will be notified at the earliest opportunity and will be advised on the project's current status and specific reasons for the default. These specific details will vary from project to project.

You should not need a solicitor to invest, unless there are ongoing legal requirements specific to your circumstances. If this is the case, you should notify Falco as soon as possible.

Your funds are not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and, as such, you can lose 100% of your capital.

As client funds are not held directly on the Platform but in holding companies related to each investment, the Platform itself is not in a position where it would fail. As each investment opportunity is set up as a separate investment vehicle, investor funds would be legally ring-fenced in the event that Falco Investment Platform were to go out of business.

You will start earning interest on loan investments once the investment has closed, funds have been received and documentation has been completed.

There is no cancellation period once funds have been sent to the investment vehicle. However, you do have the option to back out between pledging and sending funds.

Interest is accumulated and will be paid to you on completion of each project.

We will notify you as to the reasons for account restriction which could be, for example, not supplying identification documents or not fulfilling pledges.

We will occasionally have to conduct some system maintenance which may interrupt the Platform’s performance. This will usually be outside of business hours and, wherever possible, we will let you know in advance via the Message area of the Platform.

By using the Platform, you have agreed to the Platform’s Terms of Use, Cookies and Privacy Policy. If at any time you do not wish to accept these Terms, you should not use the Platform.

If you land on a '404' or 'Not Found' page, this means the page has been moved or deleted. Please also check that you have typed the URL address correctly. Please contact us if you require any assistance using the Platform.

The Platform will log you out if you have not taken any action on a page for approximately five minutes and you will have to re-enter your personal login information to access the Platform again.

Falco recommends that you use the most up to date Internet Browser to ensure full visibility and functionality of the Platform. Most of the downloadable documents would require the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view documents. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat installed on your device, you can download the latest version at https://get.adobe.com/reader/ or contact your IT department.

Sterling is the default reference currency on the Dashboard. You can change the reference currency of your investments on the Dashboard by using the Reference Currency drop-down option.

We use ExchangeRate-API to do the Platform’s conversion every midnight. The API collects exchange rate data from multiple central banks and commercial sources. The exchange rates are classed as indicative midpoint rates so they are accurate enough for dashboards and/or reporting. They are not suitable for trading forex because they do not provide any information about the bid/ask spreads available in different marketplaces.
